About Kahua

Kahua is a mixed platform that provides cloud-based access but requires users to download a desktop application as well (see system requirements). Instead of an all-in-one application, Kahua is made up of many "apps" that users download from their kStore for features including Budgets, RFIs, File Management, Field Observations, and more. Because of that, Kahua may present a steeper learning curve and require more technical admin resources and/or additional budget to get the systems working together.

Implementation Timeline

ProjectTeam is as easy as a link. When you get started, you'll receive an invitation with a link to access the system. After that, you have immediate access to all of the features and benefits of the ProjectTeam platform including administration, project setup, document control, cost control, file & photo management, contact directories, and reporting. However, as with any new enterprise software, there is a slight learning curve to master navigation and user tools. We offer implementation training and services to configure ProjectTeam to meet your unique requirements. Configuring the system with custom templates, custom forms, visual workflows, user groups, and branded print templates makes ProjectTeam an "exact fit" solution for your business. The average implementation time is ~2 months which is mostly dependent on your team's level of involvement.

Kahua is made up of different license types and varying apps which means it may take additional time to get everything working before users can log in and access project information. While system data can be lightly configured, you may need to reach out to Kahua's support group often to help set up custom forms or processes to fit your exact needs. For anything customized outside the standard setup, Kahua may charge you extra which increases the total cost of ownership compared to your original proposal.

Scale and Customization

ProjectTeam offers unlimited customization for forms and reports at both the company and project levels. Admins can modify existing system forms or build completely custom forms directly within the user interface using intuitive drag-and-drop tools. For each form, you can add field types including text, numbers, checkboxes, tables, picklists, reference links, URLs, dates, and more. You can make each field type required which means users won't be able to save the form before filling out those fields. You can also drag fields to reorder them on your forms. Most importantly, you can define security access per field to make sure only the appropriate users have access to your data. Each system form and custom form you create comes with standard features including sharing, action items, workflows, attachments, comments, activity tracking, and reference links. 

Kahua allows admins to modify the configuration of prebuilt forms by hiding and relabeling fields. You can also make certain fields required to ensure users add information to the field before saving. However, to make any complex customizations, you need to contact Kahua directly. While Kahua has its standard platform, they also rely on different apps to support unique processes such as Expense Change Orders, Checklists, Asset Data Collection, and others. Some of these apps are built by Kahua but others are built by outside parties. Therefore, support for those would involve yet another vendor potentially making it complicated to get the help you need in a timely manner.
